The Tamil Nadu government has scrapped the Class 11 public (board) examination starting from the 2025–26 academic year. Instead of a public exam, Class 11 will be treated as a “preparatory year” with continuous internal assessments
The Tamil Nadu School Education Department announced that Class 12 exams will be held from 2–26 March 2026, while Class 10 exams will run from 11 March – 6 April 2026.
Additional updates:
- To comply with a Supreme Court directive, Tamil Nadu will conduct three special Teachers’ Eligibility Tests (TET) in January, July, and December 2026. Passing TET is now mandatory for teachers (Classes 1–8) for promotions.
- The TN TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) for 2025, originally scheduled for Nov 1–2, has been postponed to Nov 15 (Paper I) and Nov 16 (Paper II).
